Rhythm and Roots Residency

January 17 - April 11, 2012
As an artist-in-residence, Nisha will introduce an intergenerational multicultural community of university students, faculty, staff, and community members to drumming traditions of West African and the Caribbean. Participants will also engage an interactive exploration of the historical roots and cultural context of these traditions as well as their own cultural heritage. Through this process participants will discover and reflect on how these traditions may be used to build relationships cross-culturally and create a foundation for developing understanding between diverse populations
